UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE
The full list of Avenel Primary School’s compulsory school uniform items are available below.
General appearance
While at school, travelling to or from school or participating in school activities, students must comply with the
following:
● Uniforms must be clean and in good repair
● Uniforms should be clearly marked with the owner’s name
● Additional layers of clothing may be worn underneath the uniform for added warmth, provided
these undergarments are completely hidden
● Shorts and skirts must be an appropriate length and visible below the shirt/ jumper

Health and safety
● Shoulder length or longer hair is recommended to be tied back to help restrict the spread of lice and for student safety.
● Jewellery, nails, hair accessories and similar items that interfere with students’ ability to engage with school activities safely and fully are not permitted.
● School uniform hats must be worn outside in Term 1 and 4 and on any other day prescribed by the school, according to UV rating. School uniform hats may also be worn outside of this time period, by parent or student choice.
● Hats are not to be worn inside.
● Students are permitted to wear sunglasses during outdoor activities. Sunglasses should be close fitting, wrap-around that meet the Australian Standards 1067 and cover as much of the eye area as possible.

PURCHASE OF UNIFORM
Uniform items can be purchased from the school supplier Eduthreads and are to be ordered online. Items can then be delivered to the school or home address.
Avenel Primary School also operates a second-hand uniform store for parents. This is operated by the school’s business manager. Items can be purchased for a gold coin donation.

We have samples of the new uniform items available in the office for you to check out before ordering.  

The following items may be worn all year round. 

  • Jumpers and Jackets Navy blue polar fleece with school logo,  
  • navy blue soft shell jacket with school logo,
  • red jumper with school logo, 
  • polo shirts blue and red contrast polo – short sleeved with school logo,
  • shorts and skorts, plain navy shorts and skorts without decoration or brand name *Shorts and skorts must be an appropriate length and visible below the shirt/ jumper.
  • Pants – plain, navy blue pants without decoration or brand name
  • Dress – red and white checked dress
  • Socks or tights/stockings, neutral coloured socks – white, black, grey to mid-calf length Navy blue tights/stockings
  • Footwear – Appropriate footwear is to be worn. Shoes with covered toes – boots or runners are permitted. No thongs or open-toed sandals are permitted.
  • Hats – Navy broadbrim with school logo or without brand name
